Church Stretton Electric Car Display Saturday 12th September 2015
Stretton Climate Care are organising their third display of Electric Cars on Saturday 12th September from 10.00 – 4.00pm. With support from Rybrook BMW Warwick, Inchape V.W. J.T. Hughes Telford, Chargemaster and Greenhous dealerships in Shrewsbury we hope to have on display the latest E.V. and plug-in hybrid models from V.W. Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Tesla and Renault. Local electric car owners are also offering a short ride for members of the public to experience this increasingly popular form of “green” transport
The car park to the right of the Co-op (where the new charging post is situated) has been hired for the day so will be closed to the public with the exception of those wishing to charge their cars.
Jon Cooke, (publicity Officer for Stretton Climate Care says) “the running costs of an all-electric car are as little as £0.02 per mile compared to those of an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, produce no carbon or diesel particulate emissions when running on battery and if charged on green electricity use no carbon emissions when charging. Modern electric cars are exciting to drive, offer every comfort and have increasing battery range.”
Within a few years’ time it is estimated 10% of cars on the road will be electric – especially as the charging infrastructure improves. Most motorway services now have charging points and many local authorities are adding them to public car parks. Church Stretton already has a high electric car ownership and two charging facilities, one in Lion Meadow Car Park and the other at Burway Garage on the Mynd Trading Estate. Come and see us on the 12th.
