Introducing Piclo, the UK’s first online market for renewable energy!
The world is facing an uncertain environmental future. High greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels are contributing to global warming, with side-effects of rising earth temperatures, extreme weather events and ocean acidification. Choosing to use renewable energy is one way for businesses and individuals to help mitigate climate change.
Piclo is a step towards a future with low-carbon, local renewable energy markets. The online service lets energy consumers make a difference through electricity usage, allowing you to choose who you’re buying from. You can buy 100% renewable generation from within the county or even from your own generation portfolio.
Piclo also helps you understand your energy usage and make savings. The service breaks down your electricity consumption throughout the day, so you can measure, track and avoid peak grid charges.
The six-month trial is funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Nominet Trust, and supported by OFGEM.
Do you want to be part of the future of electricity? Open Utility and Good Energy are looking for half-hourly metered buildings and generators to join the service. Find out more, and sign up on the Piclo website (link: http://piclo.uk/)
